I traveled to Israel for the first time when the worst of the pandemic was over (nevertheless, I got COVID the day I was scheduled to return home).
Israel is a small country with many contradictions. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone feels entitled to claim the land as their own. Many have a religious conviction. But many do not. In contrast to the Arab territories, the Jewish land is modern, often secular, creative, with a lot of high tech industries and innovations. Still, the country feels old and important.
